       oh turns out by default phones will only use 5g connections and won't downgrade to 4g unless it absolutely has to, even if the 5g is embarrassingly slow.might also improve battery life too because a low quality signal will use more power than a higher one.

       @Jes i wonder if that's security related, recall reading that higher Gs are harder to hijack and such, maybe phones are now forced to use more secure channels by default?
