The genuinely non-obvious part is the V negation, and it turns out to be the thread connecting this whole session: it's why the bitangent is -vectorT, which is the axis ericw bakes the luxmap against, and why the lightmap UVs directly below must not flip (they index against surf->extents, computed in unflipped BSP space).
