I abhor AI-generated video thumbnails, and seeing one causes me to immediately click on "Not interested", even if it's from someone whose videos I've watched in the past. But they're going to get a lot harder to avoid, because now an AI thumbnail image generator is built right into YouTube's Creator Studio, and it uses all the algorithm's tricks (like large, brightly colored titles and an arrow pointing at something) to create a "curiosity gap" and get you to watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cw7BZ-J9xKM

@vwestlife Can't stand the clanker thumbnails either, you'll never see them on my channel.

@vwestlife Good lord, it's so bad and invasive. I had no idea that was in there. It is horrifyingly good as well in ways I would not have pegged as AI.I didn't watch the video yet, but I did click the button for a supporter video in the interest of knowing the evil and will share the results. The video is a single static camera shot. What it came up with frighteningly detailed. At least it failed *miserably* at recreating my face. More notes in alt text.

@vwestlife I never even bother with custom thumbnails, let alone garbage AI ones. I did just give it a test out of morbid curiosity though, and in one video where my face is visible, it somehow managed to make me look 100 times uglier than I already do, which I didn't even think was possible, lol. In another video, which was just me driving around town, it decided that a view of the lower half of my car's dashboard (which isn't visible in the video) was a good idea, and it got that quite wrong.
