       having some memory/recall issues. i had trouble recalling the word "hypocrite" for like 10-15 minutes. i knew the meaning i wanted to express and had a feeling it has "hy" or "hyp" in it but it was shadowed by words like "hubris", "hyperbole", "hypochondriac". i had to resist to google it and while showering i tried to describe the word in more detail in my head, and then suddenly it was there. recently i also couldn't recall the name "kurt vile". i wonder if normal/stress/age/nutrition

       @mntmn it doesn't sound too unusual under stress, and if it goes away? i usually try not to focus on it. i wish i could relax more atm...

       @mntmn I went through a period of ~5 years where it felt like my memory was severely degrading, mostly failing to remember words / names regularly, and was freaking out about it - and then I quit my shitty stressful job to do freelance work at my own pace, and it turns out I’m fine 🤦‍♀️(not to suggest that the cause is the same, just empathising)

       @mntmn yea definitely very common in ADHD, I'm unable to recall names since forever. Recalling words also for long time but even worse since becoming more bilingual in the everyday

       @mntmn There are also some medications for which "word finding" difficulty is a side effect. I take a med for migraine prevention that has this property. Every now and then I have enormous difficulty finding the correct word for something. I'll have a similar but incorrect word, or I'll just have to settle with "thing" if I'm trying to name an object.It's very irritating. However, I think it was a problem the med has only made worse.

       @mntmn not trying to diagnose but simply add an anecdote ... My partner has long covid and the initial phase had her really struggling to find words, lots of brain fog, and forgetfulness like "why did I come into the laundry room?". And even years later if she gets sick, it comes back to some degree.
