       i love my (current) analog video capture laptop because if i don’t mash ‘escape’ on bootup fast enough it’ll boot up into Windows 3.1 from ROM. every time I start it up I forget that I did that and get a chimes.wav jumpscare

       i could fix it. but then it also wouldn’t have windows 3.1 in ROM anymore. and I’m not sure if this is a tradeoff i’m willing to make

       @domi because you can get another ROM chip and swap in a copy of the ROM that will boot to Linux rather than requiring you to spam Esc #lang_en

       @domi More work the rare time you want the thing to come up in ROM Windows.Or maybe there's a way to have a switchable ROM, which would be externally visible as a fairly minimal case mod to allow for the switch. But at that point it's cursed. #lang_en
