       @gutenberg_org #Alkhwarizmi is commemorated in #khiva - which is now in western #Uzbekistán - where he was born and - I believe - buried.   In the 1920s there was briefly a #khwarizmian  people's republic which issued its own currency before being incorporated into the #sovietunion . This is based on direct personal observation made on a visit fifteen years ago - in 2011.
