       (72MB -> 66MB just with optipng, and some of them should be resized down from 512x512 to 192x192 or so! and this may not sound huge, but multiply it by gazillion to get all the servers fetching that data, and, uh. it balloons quickly, so saving bytes here makes a lot of sense)

       @jana @domi yes. the answer is always yes.even if you use the highest level of compression in GIMP or whatever, it'll never match optipng, pngout, pngcrush or any other program designed for this specific purpose

       @domi i prefer oxipng but yes 100% use a state of the art encoder for web distribution and similar. so much to be squeezed out even out of those decades old codecs
