Just contributed my first drawing-tablet driver! 🎉 It is for this giant XpPen Artist Pro 27 (gen2) I received (sponsored in exchange of a review on my channel). I adapted the existing specs of the 16" and 19" and it taught me so much, from compiling to submitting a MR. Everything now works perfectly on my GNU/Linux KDE Neon Plasma... Feeling accomplished! @davidrevoy damn, that's a big tablet! Personally been eyeballing wacom's movink15, but I don't think it supports linux yet.Edit: actually I was thinking of the movink pro 14, why would I ever remember such an awful product name.

@AlexanderMars Yes, and a heavy one too. Very interesting about the Wacom movink15; usually Wacom share the spec, so 6 month (or so) after the release of a new model on the market (and on rolling distro) they are plug and play. But I'll review also next month a 12inch from XpPen and a 11" from Gaomon that are also targeting this market: the one of the screen display tablet for less than 250$ , and with a single USB-C for power and data.

@batterpunts The sand timer is just a decorative one, it works (1 min). It's a symbol to remind me to make useful things of my time.On left... So, there is a 16" tablet, a remote shortcut, three dices (10,8,20) a white remote for my fan speed. A decorative bird cage (with yin-yang balls in it) and further on the floor: a sort of large knitted pillow to seat on it, brown, and decorative copper objects (my favorite metal). Also a ceramic artichoke in green. It's around my stove. That's all :)

@davidrevoy I got to use the moveink in a massive tech store in Tokyo last month, and my initial impression left me deeply impressed. Being an android tablet is very cool. The matte finish was brilliant, the screen was subdued compared to the nearby tablets, however glare from ambient lights was nonexistent. Drawing was the best I've experienced away from actual paper. My biggest concern though, apparently no software upgrades for Android.

@AlexanderMars On the page I browsed ( https://www.wacom.com/en-us/products/pen-displays/wacom-movink ) , it shows that the device need to be connected to a computer/android ; just a display+drawing-tablet. So, you can in theory connect it to a GNU/Linux powerful laptop and get as many software upgrade (eg. Krita) as you want.

@holsta 😆 haha, thank you. You might be surprised, but I think the root skill for all of this is simply just the same one: patience...An abnormal patience for the "fail and retry process" and the humility to just retry, re read the F* manual, and check how other are doing, reading commits, etc. Also, I don't describe in this short post the nights of despair because I couldn't get the right version of Rust, Meson, Cargo to compile the thing and nothing was working... for hours and hours. 😅

@davidrevoy looks like I was getting my Wacoms mixed up. The model I'm thinking of is apparently called the "movinkpad pro 14" (just rolls off the tongue) which is an android tablet, that also doubles as a wired or wireless drawing tablet. Unfortunately lacks linux support for "instant pen display mode" (seriously) in the WacomLabs blurb. @keen456 I'll probably write a longer paragraph about it on my monthly report for June (I'll try to get it done next week). I had to hack in june this Ikea Kallax and transform it into a large desk. The project around this huge tablet is a journey. For the details about the tablet and the review, it will have its own blog post too.

@davidrevoy Very nice work. By the look of things you got 'tilt' working nicely. I never got that properly on my pro 22.Reality is that, nowadays most of my screens are 4k (even my 11" laptop), so the pro 22's 2k looks messy in dual screen and I stopped using it as a tablet, eventually.

@triantares Thank you. Oh yes, I totally get the difficulties of fitting a drawing-tablet with a display in a setup with other resolution. My main workstation is very 'quadHD' centric ; even if my 19" Pro can go 4K, I prefer to setup it to quadHD for this reason. It's easier to clone it and get mouse movement accross display. This big one is 4K, and so large that's it is a rare case where I can use the 4K without scaling, 100% pixels. So many room for Krita dockers, references around. 😍

@yuki2501 @holsta Wayne's World! One of my fav top ten movie. Younger, I was able with a friend to almost quote most of the iconic scene of this movie (the French dubbing). I should rewatch it, but in English. ( a good week-end idea to relax)
