       I always interpreted this as: Those who claim to "Know God" or his intentions are misguided. Instead they should humbly ask for guidance or wisdom because we are flawed beings and understanding that and looking to God for guidance is part of that.Technically I'm Protestant. I haven't been to an actual protestant church in years.

       Without regeneration of the soul through baptism, it is impossible for us to accept grace, as we cannot see it for what it is. All the bible reading in the world will not regenerate the soul, because the soul is not capable of accepting the truth.

       @SuperSnekFriend I read the full chapter in KJV (because it's habit) but my initial thoughts were the same.You yourself cannot fully understand the methods or reasons for why God ordains what he wills.Specifically in verse 7 "But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:"To understand God you would have to understand existence before it even was, and that's genuinely an insane thing to think about or comprehend.  It's no cap pointless.Anyways moving onto the verse the Natural man is without God's spirit because he created, God however is not created he is uncreated.  The created trying to comprehend the uncreated is something that can't be done.If any of that doesn't make sense, I don't know man go comprehend eternity infinity and maybe negative nothing and maybe it will make better sense.  I'm kind of hungry so I'm gonna get a pizza bye now.Oh yeah Lutheran Church, Missouri synod.

       @SuperSnekFriend One cannot rely on one's own faculties – the "natural person" – absent the Holy Spirit, to discern matters spiritual. Without the Ghost, such matters appear unhinged, foolish, and so will likely be corrupted by attempts to make them "make sense" to worldly "wisdom".

       @SuperSnekFriend "the natural man" refers to unregenerate humans and (possibly?) any tendency in saved humans to resist sanctification before death/the Second Advent. The verses say that such a person as the former and, at times, the latter will not understand certain spiritual matters revealed in Scripture. The latter, however, will, over time, resist the Holy Spirit and sanctification less and less in the Earthly life.
