Far be it from me to deny Hideo Kojima has credit on predictions, this is certainly forward thinking from a normie or nip perspective after all.But I feel like a lot of folks saw the danger of the digital future, and removal of ownership as a risk as early as 2012, maybe even sooner. Me personally I think back to online only Diablo 3 and Sim City as the heralds of the end there, coupled with my own buying habits changing. Since I was a primarily a PC gamer, I was still buying physical copies of games, but Steam had done such an excellent job of killing off physicals on PC, I can remember falling out of love with PC physical releases when I bought New Vegas and it was just a code in the box.

@TopBep With a heavy heart I bought like a second game on Steam in my life two days ago, because they probably not going to release it on GOG. Despite generally positive impact on gaming, that's one sin Gaben couldn't get away with - architecting this "own nothing" bullshit. I even wanted to pay for music, but Bandcamp randomly removed album from my collection after artist took it down, so I guess we need to just pirate without a shred of remorse when the service is not guaranteed.

@TopBep I'd say you could have foreseen it earlier, but nobody would have listened until 2009-2012, with shit like Dawn of War 2, Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3.
