       Free Software is a political statement. Using Free Software is an act of rebellion.Best thing about it, is - it is surprisingly accessible. It's a rebellion you can afford. You will still have to put in effort, and it will still inconvenience you in some minor and major ways, it's still an exercise in willpower, and it's still an active choice you will have to make every day. But it won't threaten your life or well-being too much. The stakes are high, but your personal risk and individual cost are low. This is the sweet spot for any movement of protest.So, if you've always wanted to "Stick it to the Man" and don't know where to start - give a Linux distro an install. You might just like it, or at least you can safely say that you've tried, and even if you stay on Windows, it becomes an actual choice you've made. It's a win-win, you have literally nothing to lose.

       @namuro In a world where large corporations own most of the stuff and employ most of the best engineers, I think, it is expected that something big must be developed at least in part by people from large corporations.Like, who else gonna do it? Martians?The important part is, the whole Free Software movement is not *owned* by any one large corporation, and Linux is but a kernel, i.e. just one part of it. Will we gonna need to replace in sometime down the road? Perhaps. We'll figure something out then.
