One day, as I was waiting for someone in my car, I noticed the onboard help has an open-source licenses disclosure and idly perused it, and found my former colleague Branko Lankester listed in it.Yesterday, as I was updating my HomeBox home inventory with all the PDF manuals for my home appliances, I noticed my Bosch dishwasher also had such a document. not much seems to be going on with this firmware, its just musl and some proprietary binary installed at /linuxrcseems to be FD-PIC ELF, so i assume we are dealing with some sort of cortex-m SoC

@ariadne how does one even get this far 😭I've been meaning to liberate or atleast interop with my washing machine at home for a while I downloaded their app on my stock and locked device and sniffed traffic a long time ago but it was mostly https encrypted traffic to their mqtt server and I don't know how to proceed from here Difference is that I'm pretty sure it's an ESP32(or 8266) and MQTT not a full Linux system in my case

@ariadne Run your washing as a cron job? Kind of mildly useful: set the job in the morning so it finishes right before you get home. Won't have wet clothes in the machine all day getting icky.

Is it just, like, a USB port, hanging out next to all the knobs/buttons for the laundry?did you have to download an image of the OS, modify it elsewhere, and then overwrite it on the washing machine; all over the debug port? and that's how you got the shell?
