       @rustfoundation fucking **BOO**not surprising, immensely disappointing. why do these cancers on society continue to infect everything good in the world? tying the Rust Foundation to some of the biggest technofascists in the world was already disgusting enough with Amazon, Google, and Microsoft.this bubble cannot burst soon enough.

       @rustfoundation This is rather gross tbh, this erodes my trust in rust and its foundation...Sure, the money is nice, but it's wise to consider where the money is coming from... And in this case, the money is coming from one of the biggest destructive forces in our industry, the ethical choice would be to say no. See also python saying no to US government money.

Yeah, because nothing essential is using it, and AFAIK they don't have a cult-like community hard-promoting it everywhere.But rust? Once it's in the Linux kernel, you don't have much of a choice.Please understand, I have no major qualms against the language itself. But I do tend to look at the community somewhat chab-chab (Persian, literally "left-left," or "askance.")

       @rl_dane @mirabilos But telling someone how they have to spend their time also feels wrong. I remember arguments that gnome and KDE should make one desktop instead of splitting resources among 2 and I don't think you would get more out of that. If you prohibit rust from the kernel i would expect that you just get fewer contributions, not more in C.

If they offer a path that implements some cool feature and the kernel maintainers think that it's worth adding another language for that than they can decide to merge that. But being the ones that maintain everything, they have to decide if they want to, not I.If you want to maintain a fork of the kernel with most code written in c pre processor, that's you choice and no one should keep you from that.
