       I was annoying the neighbours with cello sound and the odd swear word, and finally decided to grasp the nettle and email the couple who booked me eighteen months ago to play the Bach D major Suite at their wedding. It is in July, and we haven’t been in touch with one another since August last year. We’ll see if the thing is actually on.Admin self-sabotager, me. I’ve taken no deposit, signed no contract (though there is an email trail, so that’s something). I should have confirmed it all in February. If it doesn’t happen, I’ll be cross only because I’ve turned down other work on that day. But it would clear space in the next three weeks that I won’t need to do more annoying the neighbours and swearing.

       They got married in February without bothering to unbook me for July, or tell me or anything. So that'll learn me something or other.

       This is still bothering me this morning. I haven’t responded to the email yet, because I can’t think of anything civil to say; I might leave it for a while. There was no meaningful apology, but they want to thank me, ‘one way or another’, presumably to assuage their consciences. I don’t think I want to help them with that, but maybe that’s just me being petty.
