       @ireneista are anerican traffic lights so standardised? We have many different kinds even in one city, those from after the war, newer ones but still with bulbs, LED ones, and even the latter come in green and pretty much blue already…

       @mirabilos we've personally only really seen the newer LED ones and the older incandescent ones in the same form factor, in the various places we've lived in North America. the incandescents basically stopped existing upwards of 15 years ago, in those places. so, yeah, reasonably standardized within that specific context. we know for sure that procurement and selection usually happens at the city level here, so we'd have to guess the uniformity is due to there being few manufacturers.
