       I wish more people understood how unreasonable it is to tell people working at big tech to 'just quit your job'. Like sure, and where do I go then?There's nothing in this area, and even if I move across the country there are few options that have the same benefits and pay for this kind of work.And more importantly, how is it more reasonable to tell people to quit their job, than stop using the big tech thing yourself? YOU are making them this powerful, not me, stop blaming the working class.

       @anthropy@mastodon.derg.nz it was the only company to hire meand the second I barely made up for my disability, people started assuming I'm so privileged, while I have to pay out of pocket for things like healthcare, because the same people literally voted away universal basic rights

       "those evil grocery store workers are responsible for the high food prices" said nobody everyet people think it's completely reasonable to sit on youtube all day from their Android phone and complain about how big tech is evil, on social media hosted across several datacenters (which they also indiscriminately hate btw).It's completely backwards, people have no selfreflective capabilities, no nuance, people just like to bitch and whine and point fingers at everyone except themselves.        new rules:- If you complain about datacenters without a grain of nuance, you're immediately required to disconnect from the internet entirely.- If you complain about big tech without nuance, you're no longer allowed on any services hosted by them, and I don't just mean Youtube and Android, I also mean random banks and government services and "actually good messengers" like Signal (AWS)..Or how about we actually vote for better regulation, and make the world more equitable and fair instead?

       @natty same at the datacenter, suppose I manage to take the whole place down by somehow blowing up the main transformers, that's just a temporary inconvenience, and they'll run on diesel backup generators instead so all I really achieve is a massive spike in pollution and getting fired and sued.At least we can create bugs about things we don't like, if we can reason about why it's a bad idea, very occasionally it helps (but it's very rare).Sometimes it feels like Memegen is the best bet hah.
