       @Tendarlet's not get carried away: AFAIK internally to Russia, the war is a significant wealth transfer from the oligarchs to the working class - the contract soldiers (or - if they die - their families), the people employed in weapon factories, and the people employed elsewhere who now need to be paid more in order not to change jobs to the weapon factories.Though I agree RUS was making average citizens poorer in the past, and this is what allowed the war to happen.

       @aerofreakI think it's plausible that RUS govt would try to weasel out of paying in a portion of the cases, but if people are still signing up, I think at least some of their neighbours must've received the payout - either some of the soldiers who survived till the end of their contract, or some of the families.And even if that's not the case, there's still an increased amount of jobs in the military industry, and a decreased pool of workers.1/@Tendar

       @aerofreakoh, also, don't contract soldiers receive regular pay even while they're alive? I would've thought they'd periodically send that money to their families since it's of no use on the front line...@Tendar
