       @dalias ✌️ I will suppose you are someone’s child 🙃 but are you a parent?Not to use that against you, just trying to understand your position.I’m a parent of 3 and I see first hand what social media does to kids, not only mine.I just don’t see the value in the social media to anyone, 99% is useless garbage, but hey if you are a grown up, up to you :)Kids have less tools to avoid stuff so it’s on their parents to shield them from all that, or what is the alternative you defend?

       @slowcoding @dalias This is what I call a "reverse appeal to authority" fallacy.  There's probably a better term for it, but anyway, it's the fallacy of claiming that only if someone is an expert in a thing they can truly understand the thing.For example, I'm not an expert on the exact mechanisms of calculating every detail about gravity, but I can still tell you that jumping off a cliff is bad and why.

       @nazokiyoubinbou @dalias can you elaborate? What I understand: since I’m a parent I know better and others don’t know anything. If that’s the case, 2 things :* we were all once a kid somehow so we are all « experts » even if we lived in different times for some* like it or not, being a parent gives a very different light. Not assuming it’s better, just different

       @slowcoding @dalias First of all, see the term "helicopter parent."  I'm not sure if you've heard it or not:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helicopter_parent#EffectsChildren *need* some level of independence.  You rob them of something very important.  It also tends to drive them to find ways around your surveillance and to act out.  I think we've all experienced that sensation as a kid, but helicopter parenting results in the kid feeling it *all* the time.  The rebellion is actually more of a self-defense if anything...

       @slowcoding @dalias Speaking of which, that's another thing people forget as they use "have you been a parent" to decide if people know anything about kids or not:  the actual question you should be asking is "have you been a kid before?"  You might be surprised how many would say yes.  We've experienced being a kid and we know what it felt like, just it's easy to forget...
