       Back in the old days people valued a website for being snappy, not flashy, because we were coming off the heels of dialup. So a website that loaded instantaneously and actually gave you the fucking information you ask for was more important than how well it was presented to you. We were never going to stay in those days, but I wish those values of design would emerge again in whatever form that takes.

       @ripperdoll some darknets are like that. sites will refuse to work for safety reasons until you disable javascript, and then do everything modern websites use js for with just a little CSS15 hops through the tor network and they’re still faster than most sites that have CDN caches in close geographical proximity
