       On this (https://werd.io/the-honest-truth-about-leaders-who-want-to-replace-their-workers-with-ai/); trying to foist #AI onto workers who are *already* very productive—the ones who know how to use a pivot table & VLOOKUP, how to automate processes using scripts, et cetera—is a great way to lose your best people. But there are plenty of other great options that support longer toots and full Markdown:Gitch Social (Mastodon fork)GoToSocial (somewhat minimalist #fedi server, which the instance I'm on is running)snac (very minimalist fedi server, see https://snac.bsd.cafe)I don't have any Glitch instance recommendations offhand, unfortunately.        @rl_dane I actually tried GTS until one day it randomly filled my VPS storage (I worry about discoverability on GTS too). I also have some oddball sense of loyalty to this little Mastodon instance and I don't want to lose all of my posts. I may move one day though.

       @nathanuWhat I did for a while (which could apply to any alt server, not just GtS) was use a Mastodon instance as my main, and then use the GtS instance as a kind of backup.If I needed to do a long post or a post with markdown, I'd make it from the GtS instance and then boost it from the Mastodon instance.If I needed to do a long reply to a toot and didn't feel like going the obnoxious 🧵 route, I'd just reply from the GtS instance, keeping my mastodon account in the replies.That hybrid approach worked great for me.Even today, I'll post full-quality/resolution pics to my pixelfed.social account, and then boost from here, so it gets the circulation of my main account, but only takes up cache storage on @amin's GtS instance (always be kind to your admins!! 💗 ;)

       @rl_dane @nathanuAs for filling the VPS storage, I'm guessing it was the media cache? That can take some tuning to get the storage size you need it to take up.Long-term, the database's storage also gets a bit unweildy since it never clears out old remote posts, even if they were never interacted with by people on the instance. I think that's on their radar to fix someday though.

       @amin @rl_dane I might have messed with it more if it weren't for the fact that I host other important stuff on that server that I can't have going down due to storage issues. I have thought about using one of those managed GTS hosting services as I also don't want to have another VPS to manage.

The collective would be to fund development of the software involved, which I'd open source, and one of the perks for a certain level of donation would be an instance hosted by me?I didn't see anything  against doing that when I looked, but it does feel like a grey area.
