       @ariadne Ever since Gentoo got a full slate of binary packages in their package cache, I've been meaning to set up a Gentoo machine for fun. It's been almost 20 years since I last *seriously* attempted Gentoo.It might be fun! Maybe. We'll see?

       @ariadneWell…As a 20+ years Gentoo user on both workstations and servers, my answer is … "mixed".Nowadays there is a binary package cache, so it is avoidable to run 8+ hours of compilers just for qtwebengine.OTOH, they just moved from python-3.13 to -3.14 and forgot a bunch of packages which now means the package tree is inconsistent and upgrades are unavailable.At least for me, that is.
