@sapphire i just run ublock origin or lite. For me, I run Linux because it's better (4 me) than Windows, and I can't really afford a mac yet.

@sapphire @jeff Been there, manually reviewing fucked updates for GPU drives in console and individually targetting the old versions in cache to revive the bricked DE. Not an entertaining experience.

@dassauerkraut @jeff @sapphire i had an issue with my amd ryzen laptop back in 2020 because amd kernel devs pushed an update that cut battery life by 50%, made the computer heat up quick (and be warm when idle), AND also cut performance by 50%, due to a bad kernel + firmware thing. Took them a year to fix, supposedly. Went back to Intel in 2021.

@sapphire @jeff what drove me off of Windows was things randomly breaking all of the time simply because an update was available. Everything would be working as expected then one day some random thing would break; a specific game constantly crashing, audio crackling, not being able to do a specific task, etc. I would find out there’s an update because of something being broken and seeing “update and restart” or “update and shutdown” as the only options. Making me not able to use my computer for however long it took. It’s even worse on my work computer when an update is being forced while I’m in the middle of fixing an impacting event.
