Sooo any chance the rtx spark will get to keep the big mellanox nic the dgx version has?A laptop with 100/200GbE would be awesome lol. (Looks at laptop with overpriced 10g thunderbolt dongle hanging off it)

I guess add this to the list of other things I wish the tech industry would build that they aren't...* Oscilloscope with nvlink or 100GbE* Laptop with SFP+ / QSFP+ NIC* Desktop GPU with 64+ GB of VRAM that doesn't need a small nuclear plant to power it. Rip out some of the tensor cores and put on more ram instead * ECC RAM as standard on desktop/laptop/mobile platforms* Cars with no ADAS or telematicsAnd so on

@sen at least I have a connectx6 dx in my office workstation so I've got the desktop side covered lol.It's so nice being able to fire up a bunch of thunderscopes and firehose a couple GB/s of ADC samples to it

@jevidl 40 Gsps * 8 bits is 320 Gbps per channel. My 16 GHz scope puts out 1.28 Tbps of ADC samples.100G would not allow thunderscope-style real time streaming but it would vastly increase the number of waveforms per second you could crunch

@azonenberg Thanks! I do a lot of networking, in terms of computers generating data that seemed... unlikely. Even at a 100Gbps. The storage subsystem usually keeps you down. Which means I hadn't considered that kind of sample rate and depth - well beyond any scopes I've been around in the past. But when you put the math out there... yeah, makes sense!

@jevidl yeah the whole point is you don't store it. You crunch it live on the GPU and reduce it to a more tractable amount of data. Eye patterns, bathtub curves, packet captures, etc

@jevidl so far no such device exists but ngscopeclient on a decent desktop GPU can keep up with at least simpler filter graphs on two simultaneous 8 Gbps flows from a thunderscope.I have not yet been able to feed it waveforms any faster

@jevidl for scale a single scope channel at 1 Gsps, 20M points per channel, 50 WFM/s update rate is 8 Gbps of sample data plus protocol overhead
