@whitequark @stargirl Lol.In my case the problem is that my neighborhood is all underground utilities, but they don't have extra conduit for expansion. everything is direct burial (sewer, water, telephone, and power are also in the same trench which is a whole OTHER can of worms... comcast came later so is done separately and mere inches below the surface of the soil in the backyard, we found the line while hand digging with a tiny trowel to plant a flower lol)

@azonenberg @whitequark @stargirl Really? The typical business carriers can often do that. It isn't even _that_ expensive in most cases (often with brutal but fair initial setup fees, but that's just part of the game).

@manawyrm @whitequark @stargirl well right now the problem is there is no fiber on my street and the existing utilities are direct burial. So no conduit and no poles.Getting a fiber to the house was $80k for a mile of roadside excavation last i quoted

@manawyrm @laird @whitequark @stargirl maybe I just need one of those ukrainian drones with a fiber spool to fly over the neighborhood , drop one end at my place, wrap it a few times around a tree in the backyard, then string it free-space tree to tree a hundred feet in the air until it's near the splice :P
