It’s not a real article, just an article about current trends prompted as directed at a vague “AI developer“ who is torn between not wanting LLMs to be trained on what’s theirs code (an oddly wrong-buzzword-hyprocrite vibe coder) and hosting LLM blobs they trained themselves (experimentator / llm researcher / script kiddie). @hsza @Cyborus Codeberg e.V. is a democratically structured organization, and actually one of the votes on the next annual assembly (in less than a month) would be "Vote to add a paragraph to Terms of Use about prohibiting vibe-coded projects". So, now is a good time to consider joining the organization and then using your right to have a say in how things should be done! :blobcat:

@sodiboo @2something I am unsure but don't the "used resources" refer to Codebergs resources in this instance? That doesn't necessarily change by using AI. Regardless, I think finding loopholes is the wrong move anyway. I would ideally like it that Codeberg forbids projects using generative AI to write/contribute code from the platform, then we don't even need to hinge on this

@hsza @Cyborus I too brought this up in the Matrix chat today, and I now more empathize with their desire to keep some things org-internal, i.e. "members only". That doesn't mean members cannot talk about it publicly, but I think it makes sense to have a space that is a little protected from what outsiders may (sometimes purposefully) misunderstand

@star @Cyborus natural complete transparency is how projects in the FOSS space are held grounded and accountable and to be intentionally withholding that does not feel right of course discussions being misinterpreted and stirring up unnessesary drama is a valid concern but denying transparency with that as the reason is adjacent in spirit to “if we make our project open source, someone might fork it! the horror!”. like, its kinda just par for the course, something u deal with that keeps u in check and away from becoming detached from the community

@hsza @Cyborus I believe you are exaggerating a little. Codeberg has a very healthy and broad membership base so to imply that there is no or little accountability is just wrong given for how long this org has already existed and improved not just itself but the projects within and the community around it as well
