I've been using Linux for literally 14 years. it's become a core facet of my personality for better and for worse. I used to talk people's ears off about open source.it's disheartening seeing how hostile the open source and especially wayland communities are to discussions of accessibility. someone discussing an issue is not an invitation to say "PRs are welcome :)" when it's something this critical. I agree we shouldn't berate volunteers and demand things of random people but the thing is, Linux the days isnt just being made by random people. massive corporations like Red Hat are deeply involved in the development of the Linux desktop. these are paid engineers. We absolutely can and must demand they take accessibility seriously.it's also really disheartening seeing parts of the Linux community embrace generative AI. we used to have a spine. we used to believe in the GPL. now we're putting our brains and souls up for sale to evil (redundant) corporations so they can sell our skills back to us at a premium. it's an inherently destructive technology as long as capitalism exists. I don't wanna hear about "oh well in some hypothetical paradise world it would be fine" becaude we don't fucking live there. God we don't.I'm starting to lose faith in Linux and open source more broadly and that hurts. hell, I'm Xenia kin. and it hurts to see it ruined. and yes I'll play this card: mostly ruined by straight white men.

@0x4d6165 Yeah, specially as on the accessibility bit it seems like a lot of it was originally done by Sun back in it's day, so it wasn't the kind of thing where it's a bunch of volunteers (which would obviously have a chicken-egg issue as most of the ones needing it would face accessibility issues for participating in the first place).
