       finally managing to unlearn a lot of my internalised misanthropy and it turns out the world makes a lot more sense if you assume other people are capable of basic human decency towards you and are just trying their best, oops

       it did take a few hilarious interactions likeme: "yeah I don't know why [person] decided to invite me to this thing. I don't even know them very well"someone else: "they were trying to make friends with you"me: "ohhh"in my defence I didn't really have a sense of self until like 5 years ago, which seems necessary for internalising the concept that people can like you for who you are
