No idea what that could possibly mean, since that can’t affect flight safety. If it were a bomb or hijack threat, I’d imagine they’d land at the first available airport, not all the way back to Newark.        My favorite speculation is that someone is AirDropping offensive images or something, so, not a threat to the flight (meaning they don’t need to land at the first available airport), but offensive and problematic enough that someone pulled the trigger.

       Listening to LiveATC, they did ask if “the passenger is secure” so it sounds like someone was doing something potentially threatening. I’m wondering if the Bluetooth thing was just some sort of (not very technically accurate) cover story to explain the return to EWR.
