       in a few hours i am probably going to federate and do some testing with a temp instance of snorf, a new bit of fedi software i have been hacking oninspired by honk but written in rust and mastodon api compatible, snorf is how i plan to stop having to deal with everything i find annoying about mastodonlet's hope nothing too stupid comes about as a result of said testing loltesting federation is... hard

       @noah is it possible to do some sort of fuzz testing of federation against mastodon and pleroma (*whatever fork of pleroma is popular these days)?I've thought about writing an ActivityPub implementation and honestly thinking about the testing harness was rlly fun

       snorf is also, crucially, just a single rust binary which uses a simple sqlite dbno redis, no need for anything fancy you need to host alongside itbut maybe postgres support gets added at some point

       one of my goals with snorf is to make running fedi instances easy, cheap, and boringjust a static binary you install, a file you backup, and you should be able to support you and a bunch of friends easily on an old computer or small cloud instance
