Years ago I remember seeing a tech based on the works of fiber optics and basically you could bring a large portion of the light spectrum by cable in closed spaces passively. No requirement for electricity, just install one side exposed to the sun and the other side in the enclosed space.Also had the advantage of not generating much heat.And I can't find it back.

@mangeurdenuage Oh shit, I remember this, too. It was like a fiber optic skylight. You'd put like a hemispherical dome on the roof that acted almost like a lens to gather daylight and "beam" it through a fiber optic "tube" to wherever you wanted it inside, where it would be almost like a recessed electrical light fixture in the ceiling.

@echo Indeed. It's extremely economic compared to adding a window in dark spaces. And also for basements during the day it would avoid needing electricity. Or for enclosed hydroponics, or just inside plants during the winter.There are a lot of applications of this technology and it seems to have disappeared.
