       @coral 2025.2.1 forever.Things had been headed in the right direction for a while with the removal of the WebTalk spyware, license file requirement for standard. Then this. The Linux thing was the least of my issues with it.

       @azonenberg @mxsparks @coral I've already told one client that if they ever want to use parts beyond 2025.2.1, they will need to provide a sufficient number of Enterprise licenses. That $20k or so will be factored into selecting a part.I suspect they will make millions on license sales at the expense in billions in FPGA sales in the long term. Even though I don't personally buy enough to matter, there's about US $1M per year in Xilinx sales due to parts I selected for clients.

Nobody buys silicon without tools to go with it.Honestly, I think FPGA toolchains should be fully uncapped and free, even for the largest devices. Offer paid support contracts for large volume industrial users who want a dedicated FAE etc, sure. But the point of the toolchain is to sell silicon and the less friction you put in that path, the better.
