       @beaufils Sadly, it's somewhat non-trivial.  The common solution is to append a character, then substitute it, such asa  x  .  s/x/.or using the -e output from diff(1) as a model, that appends two periods and then removes one:$ diff -e <(echo hello; echo world) <(echo hello; echo . ; echo world)  1a  ..  .  2s/.//@mwl

I may have not failed my life :-)I always used your first solution since I discovered ed, but I though there was a nicer way to do it.I may have read the documentation correctly :-)@mwl I do not recall having read that specific case in 'Ed mastery'. Did I read it correctly or is my brain losing some cells or neurons connections?
