I keep hearing people say AI is the next industrial revolution but they never explain the mechanism by which it is soin the previous three cases you can point to one specific thing and why it made such a differencesteam power -> harnessing vast energy reserves in the earthinterchangeable parts -> assembly lines, reduced need for skilled labor, parts are reusable between assembliescomputers -> reduced human error, high speed controls and sensing humans aren't capable of, massive productivity increaseso now we have "artificial intelligence". what can AI tools they do? well they can shit out words and code and images really fast... but we already had an abundance of all of those things. there are more books available than anyone could read in 50 lifetimes. there's more art than you could ever view if you dedicated your life to it. if someone wrote a really good piece of code, it was already free (technologically speaking) to copy it forever, infinity times. making more words, noise, pictures, and code was never a problem. millions of people do it for free, just for funthe only answer I see is the next industrial revolution is about getting rid of human labor, period

Another example are the companies who run a fleet of satellites that process data in space and then beam it down to Earth in a couple minutes. Tell that to someone in the 60s.
