       @eff @falsemirror I don't like guns, I especially don't like ghost guns. At the same time - there is no technology that can do this today. Even if there was, it would be bypassed in a day by anyone who was a bad actor. It's a ludicrous move geared only for yet another surveillance ploy.

       @eff @falsemirror I really don't get this at all.  About anyone can buy a real, working gun on line. From https://gunbroker.com  :Anyone who is legally allowed to own firearms, ammunition, knives, and gun accessories is allowed to buy or sell them here. It is your responsibility to be in compliance with all Federal, state, and local laws when using this site.Why should I bother making a pistol that'll probly only work once when I can buy the genuine article for less than $250?

       @eff @falsemirror For everyone not getting this either, yeah--- it's an absolute joke. Putting AI in 3D printers to stop people from printing gun parts is neither enforcible, not is it addressing any of the real problems the US is having with guns. It's a nice decoy, and an entry to more mass surveillance, nothing more.

       @eff @falsemirror This is not so much a gun issue as it is a freedom of speech issue. Computer code is my form of speech, and these laws are essentially forced speech. Not to mention all those people who have a mill or lathe just for doing wood work. So I have to submit my plans to a government database to make a salad bowl now?!?!?!

       @eff Realistically this will have near zero impact on guns used on violent crimes. Instead, it's going to burden people who print useful objects with garbage AI code that might get the police at the front door over a false positive.
