       @dequbed I've looked at this several times, but never actually got as far as implementing it. But nntp's decline does feel like a loss.

       @neil yeah, same. I wish there existed a sensible way of having NNTP for essentially forums without having to have a webfrontend. Mailing lists but forum. But yeaaah, I think that would be a hell of a program to build for the like 3 people that would use it

       @neil mattermost is nice if you have a not so technical crowd and limited number of users. Been using it since 2015ish.Take a look at Zulip as an alternative. I've never used it myself, but heard only good things about it (and I'm inclined to migrating there from our mattermost).

       @neil@mastodon.neilzone.co.uk @anton@social.dollmaier.name not exactly. four key people behind it quit to join anthropic and created a foundation modeled after the likes of mozilla, signal, and wikipedia, to donate Zulip towhich seems to me like a list of three of the companies i would most try to specifically avoid emulating if i were personally making a nonprofit
