       @linear I don't remember the exact quote, but one of my favourite guitarists, Tosin Abasi, basically said once that beyond a certain level of technicality you basically end up either a Jazz guitarist or a Metal guitarist.

       @disorderlyf@todon.eu i'm one of those weird people who looks at arbitrary dichotomies and goes "why not both?"much of what i care to learn, and the stylings i like to lean into when covering something, leans in one of those ways

       @disorderlyf@todon.eu though when it comes to "jazz" i definitely lean strongly into blues more than anything else. by far. i've listened to too much Stevie Ray Vaughan in my life not for that to come out somehow

       i am taking recommendations. bonus points for things from video game soundtracks that deserve to stand alone in their own right but obviously i am interested in original source material that such things would've been inspired from as well

       @linear run to the hills by Iron Maiden is fast and excellent and not as difficult as it sounds. Very fun to play.
