       @gamingonlinux I think we only avoid this becoming the norm if people stand together and refuse it across the board. The moment we accept “just this one exemption” or “just this one use case”, the wider system gains legitimacy. If enough people keep pushing back, eventually someone in an authoritative position may pull their head out of their benefactor’s colon long enough to recognise the policy is flawed and look for better answers.

       @gamingonlinux Why not just let the admin setup an age for every user and this is what the OS sends to every site that requests it? I would assume that any mechanism implemented by a website will follow some kind of standard. So Linux just answers in a format that is expected. (Most likely there will be tools, too for Win/Mac once this becomes mandatory making this a "age verification for those who are not able to fake it")

       @gamingonlinux I don't think this is a concern. Building the data collection into the OS was problematic, I don't think I will care if a website doesn't want me as a customer.I would prefer to get http451-ed, over getting cookies too or ads too.All critical services either require the data via a different approach anyway, already have it, or an offline version exists.

       @gamingonlinux I understand the concern, but I make a distinction.I cannot stay without an OS because I have need it for work; but I can live without live services or websites as much I lived before.Games are luxury, if a game pretends be windows only, I ignore it. I have a lot of older games I like to pick up as alternative.Open Source already provide what I need for work without issues.If vendors wants lock in, I can lock them out.What I need, is an OS that doesn't do it.

       @gamingonlinux I think this is the wrong angle. The age checking is the problem.If a company wants to block me from their stuff because I refuse to open my private life and details wide for whoever wants in, that's their loss.If I really want their stuff, I'm fine with saying yarrr.

       @gamingonlinux Had a thought about how to put my feelings into words better.Likening it to someone trying to stuff me into a sack, I do not want to be in the sack.There being a hole in it like the exemption looks to me like a potential start on not being in the sack.If anything I would like the exemption to be bigger and apply to more people, so that if problems do arise from it, the government has a harder time simply cancelling the exemption.Hopefully this will weaken this bullshit further

       @gamingonlinux It would be good if we could set that age manually in our systems, maybe using the fields systemd implemented a while ago. That way we can just set our birth day to Linus Torvalds' birthday or something like that! Regardless, the best would be tto have age verification dissapear!
