I took the family to Half Price Books over the weekend. There were a few books by Ezra Pound (which I already had), as well as these two books of criticism.They also had this French edition of Les Misérables, including a stamp and receipt from Shakespeare and Company. The previous owner bought it there in May 2023 and, judging by the book’s condition, didn’t read it.

We also got a few books for our children, but not many. HPB often charges only marginally less for their books (and DVDs, etc.) than they typically cost new. The ones I got were worthwhile because they’re uncommon here, they had a sale, and we had a little money from selling a few books there.

@menherahair @Cheshire_Ocelot your turned out fine, so this is actually a good reason for them to read Lovecraft. Maybe start with the classic Cthulhu and then At The Mountains of Madness.

@MK2boogaloo I think they’re a few years away from Lovecraft, lol. The oldest is at more of a Brambly Hedge reading level. I do have Library of America’s collection of some of his stories, though, which I’m sure they’ll grow into eventually.

@Cheshire_Ocelot then The Story Girl is perfect, if you don't know it's a story about the King's family in Prince island, Canada. The book is warm and quite easy to read.

@MK2boogaloo @Cheshire_Ocelot I thought my book was very well ordered for newcomers, it begins with Dagon and the mountains are only past the middle and 440 pages of many other short storiesphoto bonus: gibson I never finished
