       @burnoutqueen@todon.nl my parents did not have money when i was a child, but they did have time.i and all five of my younger siblings were taught to read by my mom, using phonetics based learning methods, before entering even pre-school, from between 2 and 5 years of age.the advantage that this one thing alone has given us over our peers within the american education system, is indicative of a mass tragedy. we have failed millions of people, utterly failed in giving them the tools to learn about and interact with the world they live in and the people around them. and we know it is our own damn fault, because it isnt happening elsewhere.
