@domi sometimes I remember the time @weirdtreething and I were hacking on getting audio to work on Mendocino (Ryzen 7000 Chromebooks) over SSH but Matt wasn't responding (machine was at his place).We played Front_Center.wav and within few seconds we saw a message from Matt saying "FRONT CENTER MOTHERF***ER" and we collectively went "yep, it works" :meowlaugh:

@elly at one point @weirdtreething was ssh-ed into my kukui, trying to debug why the microphone wasn’t working. before i let him start the test recording, I started playing rick astley’s hit song (and the record DID work that time). he transferred the file back, and got immediately rickrolledi think that’s almost as evil as the Front_Center.wav story :akko_giggle:

@elly @domi @weirdtreething Huh TIL about the stuff in /usr/share/sounds/alsa/I always just used either random music files lying around or speaker-test(1) which plays some white noise (and so shouldn't need a file in my mind).

I were messing with KRANE in the office and corrupted the rootfs, so I threw it into my backpack and went home.Because public transport in Strasbourg was unbearably loud, I always had my headphones on.KRANE shifted in my backpack which caused magnetometer to report that keyboard folio was open, which in turn caused it to bootloop every ~30 seconds (it tried to boot corrupted rootfs, watchdog reset the platform, then depthcharge did two beeps, tried to boot the rootfs... you get the idea).I didn't hear it because I had headphones on, and back then we had Vigipirate: Urgence Attentat (highest level of terorrist attack warning). When I was trying to leave the tram in the city center (wanted to do shopping before heading home) I was stopped by (I assume?) Gendarmerie who demanded to search my backpack. I guess someone must've called and reported me for being a nerd but I have to say... I almost pooped myself when I saw armed men approaching me.After that I modified GBB flags to disable beeping and shorten wait time to make sure it never happened again :blobcatsweat:

@elly @domi @weirdtreething Ah yeah beeping device doesn't sounds great and reminds me that I so wish modern devices would still allow to yank the battery out (or at least switch it off).Also what does depthcharge sounds like?
