       You ever think about how, if humanity is still around in 1000 years, our cultural descendants will see our vocaloid music as strange and ancient as we see gregorian chant?hopefully they'll have gotten out of the "history is an arrow leading inevitably to the pinnacle which is whatever we're doing currently" mindset that we have, but I somehow doubt it

       Like the temptation is to view gregorian chant as "classical music that hadn't finished cooking yet" the way we might look at our own ancestors in the fossil record but that's nonsense both for the music and for early hominids

       @stellarskylark only a fraction of today's media is going to still be preserved by then.  judging from how much has not been preserved from the past 20 years, I'm not betting on that fraction being particularly large.
