if you want something small, reliable, good on gas and cheap to maintain get a mid 2010's ford focus hatchback for cheap but make sure it's had the transmission recall addressed. the transmission has seals that degrade and it causes slipping and it's not a cheap repair but ford fixed it for free during a couple year window

I used to work for Denso (a subsidiary of toyota), I know how shit their QA is despite them having all these processes to prevent this happening, the human (college girl) element always resulted in QA issues where I was. they were too busy chatting shit about each other all day

@graf @WhitestTemplar @mushroom_soup @wgiwf you can get them in stick too they don't have that issue, same with the Nissan Versas in stickshift. Before they canned it this year there was a thing about how the stickshift Versa was the only reliable Nissan (aside from their later SUVs that are moving to normal transmissions)

I walk to work.I used to bike. The price of gas, car insurance, car note, & maintenance is out of control. Plus I like walking. Rain or shine.I just pay for my wife's car & that's it. When my kid turns 18 and is ready for college I will buy him a cheap starter car.I walk by the gas station everyday. It's $6.30 here Sonoma county.

I bought my first car (a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix) for... like 2K in 2014. I know Zillenials like to bitch about how bad things are, but shit like this puts it into perspective. The advice that boomers give was valid 10 years ago, but they don't seem to know how bad things have become.

My dad and I were looking at used cars at the time and the same type of used car's payment was only a few dollars difference as the new car's payment because of the interest. So, we just bought a new one. I think I paid 286 a month.

I've gotten shit from people for buying new cars, but each time I buy a car, it's the same process. Start looking for used vehicles, get prices and shit, compare them to new prices, laugh at how fucken retarded the used market is and buy a new car. "Oh but you depreciate blahblahblah percent the second you drive off the lot" How about this...I buy a car so I can get to work every day. It's not stocks. I am nowhere near jewish enough to give a fuck about what it's worth. As long as it fits comfortably within my budget and does the job it's supposed to do for as long as possible without being a huge pain in the dick, I'm happy with it. I've had my Honda for 5 years. 45k miles. Paid off. Only brought it in for routine PM's. Biggest expense so far: $900 for new tires. Third time I've done this. No complaints.

New cars are infested with electronics and cameras that make them retarded and extremely expensive to repair. My parents new Lincoln can't change how air flows from a vent without using the touchscreen. Having your bumper damaged can cost thousands because of the sensors and cameras built into them.The kill switches become mandatory next year in the US. AI cameras will decide if you're drunk and turn the car off. You'd be a retard to buy a new car. I'd rather take my chances on public transit
