be pretty cool to see space operas that arent owned by disney or are the result of george lucas ripping off movie serials probably will see things like that more often as creative works like music or movies become more of a cottage industry and these centralized hives of IP collapse under their own weight it doesn't seem like a great business model to sink in a fuckton of investment to get a huge payout when you dont get a huge payout, and smaller investments end up resulting in okay payouts, we're kind of seeing stuff like this already with hollywood and triple eh gaming there's also something to be said for originality and not returning to someone else's childhood over and over again

Haven't seen it yet but that Hail Mary Gosling thing seemed to do well for box office and reviews. That's encouraging for moving away from franchise slop maxxing. I'd say Villeneuve's Dune were mostly good except for zendaya. I expect rapidly diminishing returns if they push beyond the third film.
