       @navi depends on what you consider to be properly. As a non native speaker getting the grammar right is pretty much impossible.Other than that watching movies/tv shows in German and reading books in German will help you to get a feel for the language.My partner did the letter writing thing with me where she wrote to me in German and I corrected the letter and we talked about her mistakes.
