       wait wait wait, am i understanding this right?AWS S3 costs $0.023 per GB *not* including transfers?so *just* parking 10 TB there costs you $230/month??no fucking way??in like ~3 months of that you can just buy a 20 TB hard drive

       yes yes i know, it doesn't get you the rest of the fancy S3 features (like IAM or "legal hold" (iirc one of the most well-known "often missing from 's3-compatible' alternatives" features) )but surely the numbers can't work out _that_ nicely?? or does the "capex vs opex" accounting game help you _that_ much?
