       "Average person uses 6 distinct messenger apps" statistic is inaccurate. Luna "Messenger Kitty" Dragofelis is an outlier and should not have been counted.(6 is just the number of distinct, messenger oriented protocols I use: Signal, WhatsApp (for communication with normies only), Discord, XMPP, Matrix and DeltaChat. Not even counting social media apps with a DM functionality like Fedi or Bluesky. For some of the protocols I have multiple separate apps, because the app, specifically Element for Matrix, only supports one account per device.)

       @LunaDragofelis@void.lgbt Bruh... I only use one, and only because I'm forced to. Who uses 6? I can understand 2 or 3, mostly Whatsapp, Discord and maybe Telegram or something, but 6? What?

       @enigmatico @LunaDragofelis Whatsapp, Viber, Telegram, Discord, XMPP, Matrix, Deltachat, Signal, Briar...(I personally stopped using WA, Viber, and Signal because they are blocked in my region and people I talked to moved to Telegram, which is now also blocked but whatever, and I rarely use Discord and Matrix nowadays, and only used Briar for small local chat via bluetooth)Also not counting DMs even though I use them

       @enigmatico @tiredbun Yes, I collectively refer to all of them as "apps" for simplicity. The app I use for XMPP is Conversations. While I have sometimes used Gajim on desktop (laptop) Linux for it in the past, currently I pretty much exclusively use my (Android) phone for messenging.
