       now that i think about it. most of the shells i’ve gotten were acquired through social engineering (becoming friends with people who offered me a shell later)…does this mean that all the new “security researchers” are just lonely and sad? longing for friends, human connection? That they have nobody to ask for a shell account? Another case where AI keeps humans apart…

       @domi honestly the modern Ansible/Terraform/AWS culture is a lonely culture in general, whether with AI or withoutI assume lots of new security researchers might not know what a shell account *is* – some probably would go "what's that, why wouldn't you just spin up a temp VM on your DO account" (or possibly "why would you let someone else access your system", which I guess is fair enough if the researcher deals in LPEs¹...)anyway send me your pubkey if you want an account somewhere¹ I remember the first shell account I've had was actually on a public service run by an infosec guy, it was OpenBSD with systrace policies (apparmor-but-openbsd) for every single command, like you couldn't even "cat /etc/passwd"
