My Boomer parents did not go out to eat that much, and we cooked a lot of food at home. Oh wait what actually happened was they went to the bar basically every night instead and mom cooked lazy ass spaghetti all the time.Sunday dinner was probably the only time we had real meals.But they were still spending tons

middle class folks could afford to eat out at least a couple times a month, maybe not at some fancy restaurant, but they could at least visit their local diner or restaurant.You'd have to be genuinely dirt poor pre 2000s to not afford to be able to do this.

My Dad had made like $45k with good benefits in the 90's with a solid Christmas bonus. We had a really nice house in an all white suburb, two family vehicles including a nice minivan and a pickup truck. We took one really nice two-week vacation every year to the beach and one week long camping trip to the local state park. We got pizza delivered twice a month and would go out to an Applebee's or some other chain restaurant once every other month and they were able to afford school clothes and supplies for all of us kids. I am one of six children. My mother occasionally cut hair in the basement to supplement our income for like $20 a cut on women. When he got a raise to probably around 60,000 because he was promoted to management they were able to save up and purchase lakefront property within 5 years. We even got a boat and a jet ski. Eventually they paid a firm to design a solid wood log cabin style house that the Amish built and framed. He built every single piece of wood in that house from the cabinets, to the stairs, to even the bed frames and doors in his barn with his own hands. That property is easily a $2 million dollar property now. It's my favorite place on Earth. That's how far $60-70k went in the 90's-2008ish.

I grew up in similar conditions; we were on the poor side of middle-class (though it was a town infested with niggers).We still went out to dinner (in a restaurant) every Sunday with my grandparents. My mother ordered a Dominos pizza every Friday night while my father was volunteering at the Bingo Hall (she didn't want him to know about the luxury spending).>i don't know if i delivered that right but it is both true and a crack at luxury at the same timeSaturday's they'd go grocery shopping and come back with fixings from the local deli to make the kind of sandwiches I still can't recreate because the quality of the food available to us has deteriorated so much.These people saying we ate austere every single day are lying through their teeth. I ate PB&J's for lunch every school day. And I ate breakfast, and made a snack when I got home, and ate dinner, and ate another snack after that. I was a boy. I was hungry.I was known to eat dinner at a friends, then walk home and eat dinner.The point being, the food itself was much cheaper while also being higher quality. Hellz bellz, the food five years ago was cheaper than it is today. Restaurants were reasonably priced as they were competing with home-cooked meals and needed to be priced as such, to bring you in.These lying cocksuckers are the same people who claim America has always been "a nation of migrants". Every word they say is a lie.

I remember the first time bulacks were admitted to our school - two little pickaninnies joined us in 4th grade, 1959, and stuff started getting stolen the next day. Pretty sure that was just a coincidence.And, that, my frens, is the history of the US in a microcosm.

My parents were divorced middle class city workers and they were still able to take me and my 3 siblings out frequently.My dad would take me and my older brother to the movies a lot. Sometimes we'd stop by a fast food joint beforehand, sometimes a restaurant. We weren't rich by any means, solidly middle class and it was never really an issue.Also my father was able to do this for about 7 years and still save up enough for a house.
