       Still trying to debug my #OpenBSD desktop as to why I can run any snapshot from the 13th May and before but not progress to today's date or after #473 ?? boot just fails at 255 error unknown.Bugs have been submitted and i'll wait and see before thinking about a reinstall.In the meantime I'm on my ThinkPad p14s Gen 1 which I was waiting for OpenBSD 7.9 to install on it but for now I upgraded #FreeBSD and everything works. Not bad considering I've not touched this laptop for a month or so. Is it a sign ??? 💪:beastie:

       @justine different but similar, here.The openbsd sysupgrade went fine for me but updating the pkgs fail for me (some kind of various minor/major mismatch). So I have a perfectly fine base system and a halfbaked Desktop. 🙈 Keeping my fingers crossed you can sort it out.🤞 I'll look into my problems in the weekend (and I already have a plan how to fix) but for now I am dualbooting my recently freebsd based setup on it. Needing it for my byod work  tomorrow.🤷‍♀️

       I really like OpenBSD but this is a real doozer of an issue as I cannot understand why I cannot get past #473 but I can roll back further in time without issue. I mat well end up doing a reinstall but will wait it out for so long.In the meantime as FreeBSD was still installed on the laptop I thought I'd see if it would break as not been touched in over a month but no it upgraded and patched perfectly well. In fact it was rock solid! Maybe somebody is trying to tell me something ?????

       @justine I think it's great that you pursue the problem consistently until a solution is found.#OpenBSD is enjoyable, even the installer is well thought out.However, it's not my first choice personally.At the moment I mainly use #FreeBSD, less #Linux, and I keep an eye on OpenBSD. I would like to test #NetBSD and NixOS more thoroughly when I have time, for now I'm very satisfied with FreeBSD.

       Thanks, I really don't like giving in until all avenues have been exhausted. Fingers crossed I win but in the meantime it's still use able and I have FreeBSD on my ThinkPad too.

       Well not snapshots as in backup but if you run -current then you get daily developer updates ( snapshots ) with new features that sometimes can break the system temporarily. I'm a glutton for punishment.
