       fedi, y’all are Android users, so please help me out hereI’ve got an iPhone 17 Pro Max, and I’m already pretty locked in to the Apple ecosystem. however, I’m switching carriers after my current one pissed me off, and the new one is offering me either a Pixel 10 or a Pixel 10a for free.the Pixel 10a is basically ‘no-strings-attached’ as long as I don’t cancel my plan. I buy it, I activate it, and then I can immediately switch back to my iPhone if I want or need to. the Pixel 10 has a 120-day device lock where I can’t switch it out, but is generally a nicer phone.what decision should I make here?

       @oracle@phantomthieves.net 10a is actually pretty good of a phone, minus the SoC. It has a bigger battery than the 10, the same (?) VRR screen, and the only downside is the cut-down RAM (which might be a bonus if on-device Gemini is an anti-feature)I guess that's about it, phones haven't been interesting for the last 5 years. Well, it also probably needs more storage since it's less cloud-y than iCloud from my iPad experienceThe only reason for the 10 is really the camera with an impressive stabilization and optical zoomI wouldn't make this upgrade if I had to pay for it tho, a phone like the 17 Pro Max would last me like 5 more years

       @natty oh 100%, it’s more so just, like, “I’m getting a free phone, should I experiment with/suffer Android for four months or take the downgrade and use it as a Toy”, which I guess is a pretty damn good position to be in
